The NST Member Selection Advisory Committee are experts in sports:
- law
- medicine
- administration
They helped us assess applications to become a Member of the NST. They also help us regularly review the composition and management of the panel of NST Members.
We do not pay members of the NST Selection Advisory Committee. We are grateful for their voluntary contribution of advice about the Membership of the NST.

Jeff Gleeson QC |
Queens Counsel and a member of the Victorian Bar for almost thirty years. For over 10 years he has been engaged as senior Tribunal counsel by the AFL and has acted in anti-doping matters, including the investigation into the Essendon Football Club supplements matter. He is also engaged as senior counsel to Racing Victoria and senior counsel to Cricket Australia and is Chair of the Victorian Bar Sports Law committee. |
Gabrielle Trainor AO LLB MA FAICD |
Former lawyer, journalist, public sector executive and corporate adviser with a lifetime interest and involvement in sport. Non-executive director of a range of public, private, for purpose and government organisations over 25 years. Currently a director of the Australian Sports Commission and a Commissioner of the AFL. Former director of the Australian Sports Drug Agency (ASDA, now ASADA) and of the GWS Giants including as chair of its Integrity Committee. |

Margot Foster AM OLY |
Lawyer, Olympian, mediator and member of a range of boards and sport tribunals. Experienced current and former board member, including the Australian Sports Commission and Sport New Zealand. Served on numerous selection and discipline tribunals and conducted mediations, and investigations for a variety of sports organisations. |
Brian Ward OAM LLB |
Senior barrister and solicitor in all Australian jurisdictions, sports law expert, teacher, writer, tribunal member and experienced board member. Former Deputy National Chair of Australian Red Cross and Chair of the ASADA Advisory Group. |
Laura Sigal |
Senior solicitor, currently advises the AFL Players’ Association, the Australian Basketball Players Association and the Australian Athletes Alliance. Previously worked with Professional Footballers Australia, the Australian Netball Players’ Association, the Australian Cricketers’ Association, and the Australian Swimmers' Association. |
